Utilizing the standard PCIe 2.0 interface and taking only a single PCIe expansion slot, the MB839SP-B gives you an additional hot-swappable drive bay for hard disk drives (HDDs) and solid state drives (SSDs) even when your computer does not have an open SATA port or empty drive bay. Because the single PCIe port handles both power and data, there’s no additional clutter from SATA data and power cables. Fully supports hot-swapping drives with its removable drive tray.
Convenient Hot Swap SupportMB839SP-B adds full hot-swap support over the PCIe 2.0/3.0 interface, allowing you to add or remove drives in seconds without having to shut down the computer or open the case. ToughArmor MB839SP-B is designed for the PCIe 2.0 and 3.0 single-channel (x1) interface, and for maximum compatibility, it’s also compatible with PCIe x4, x8, and x16 full-length PCIe slots.
The Protection You NeedRuggedized full-metal chassis, tray, and mounting bracket help to ensure a long product life, and further aid in heat dissipation. An anti-vibration mechanism built into the chassis reduces noise and protects against environmental damage.
Large ventilation holes on both sides of the enclosure work with your systems cooling system to keep your drives cool under load. The single-slot width is narrow enough to enable cooling even when multiple bays are installed side-by-side.
An LED is installed into the tray of the mobile rack to provide drive status information at all times. When a drive is currently installed, a solid green light will indicate power is being provided to the drive, and a blinking green light indicates drive activity.
For easier drive status monitoring, connect your computers/server drive power/access LED light to the 2-pin HDD status header (cable not included), to easily see when your drive is in use from the front of the computer.

A: The MB839SP-B does not support the SATA 3.3 / SAS 3.0 PWDIS feature. If you install the SATA/SAS HDD/SSD with PWDIS in MB839SP-B , the drive will not spin, and the system won't detect the drive. See the list below for known SATA/SAS HDD/SSD with the PWDIS feature.
While we recommend to avoid using the SATA/SAS HDD/SSD with PWDIS, you can use the methods below to disable the PWDIS feature physically if you already purchased the drive:
Method 1 – Using the Molex to SATA adapter or cable to disconnect the power to Pin 3 of the SATA power connector.
Molex to SATA Adapter Molex to SATA Cable Method 2 – Placing Kapton tape on Pin 1-3 of the SATA/SAS power connector to isolate the 3.3V power, as shown below.

Q: I want to see the drive status from the front panel on PC case/chassis. What should I do?
A: There is a 2-pin front panel header(s) on the PCBA of the product. The drive status can be displayed from the front panel after connecting the front I/O wire to the corresponding 2-pin header of the product. For detailed connected methods, please refer to the user manual of the PC case/chassis.
